This accessibility statement applies to learnzone.loucoll.ac.uk

This website is run by Loughborough College. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

• change colours, contrast levels and fonts
• zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

• Some documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software and some PDF's are not tagged.
• Keyboard only or Screen reader users may find it difficult to access all of the content in some activity modules (External Tools, Mod Tab).
• Some videos on LearnZone do not have the required caption or transcriptions available.
• Some link text does not make sense when read on its own.
• Images do not all have alternative text, or have alternative text that does not make sense or describe the image.
• Live video streams do not have captions.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations:

• Some colour combinations do not fully meet colour contrast ratio standards making it difficult for users with visual impairments. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.4.3: Contrast minimum (AA).
• A few pages have incorrect heading structures, such as multiple H1 tags, or a structure that doesn’t follow a logical order. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 2.4.6: Headings and Labels (AA).
• Images do not all have alternative text. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.1.1: Non-text Content (A)
• Some images have alternative text that does not make sense or describe the image. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.1.1: Non-text Content (A)
• Some links with text do not always make sense. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 2.4.4: Link Purpose (A)

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations:

PDFs and Documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Some of our PDFs and Documents are essential to providing our services don't fully meet accessibility requirements. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents.

We plan to either fix these or replace them with accessible HTML and are working to address this issue by August 2024.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Video Captions

• Some embedded videos are not captioned or use automatically generated captions which may be inaccurate. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.2.2: Captions (Prerecorded) (A).

The regulations do not apply to recorded videos published before 23 September 2020.

Any new videos we publish will have edited captions and transcripts.

Live Video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
