Type A and Type B personality types

One theory that has evolved is that people show what are known as either type A or type B personality characteristics. Research has shown that there is little evidence that sports performer's fall in to one category more than the other; however, individuals with personality type A tend to be more aggressive when in sporting situations. Here are some other differences between the two.

  • High levels of alertness
  • Work at a fast pace
  • Become angry easily
  • Need to be in control
  • Highly stressed
  • More relaxed
  • Delegate easily
  • Less competitive
  • Less urgency to get things done immediately
  • Low levels of stress
