Deviance

Deviant behaviour such as violence, crime or verbal abuse are commonly seen in society and sport is one way of providing a solution to such negative behaviours.

Deviance also describes cheating, either within or outside of the rules, but both to gain an unfair advantage of the game. There are several types of deviance in sport, incidences of which occur on a weekly basis in a variety of sports. The publication of deviant behaviour is often magnified by media attention.
