Environmental conditions

The environment in which we perform sports can also have a big impact on the likelihood of sustaining an injury. The environment encompasses the area in which a sport is played. This includes the surface, lighting, ventilation, temperature and equipment. Exercisers should always be aware of the environment in which they are training.

If indoors, the area should be suitable for activity and the number of people participating in the event. The area should be free from spillages and obstructions. If outdoors, it is always important to consider the weather conditions. The exerciser should also check the ground in which they are training on and that it is free from debris that could cause a potential injury.
