Minerals

Minerals can be divided into two types: macro elements and trace elements. Both types are needed to help maintain the structure of the body, help with chemical reactions and help maintain the correct balance of fluid in the body.

Macro elements are minerals that are needed in greater quantities. Examples of macro elements include sodium, calcium and potassium.

Trace elements are only needed in very small amounts and are not needed on a regular basis. Examples include iron, zinc, fluoride and copper.
