Situational approach

In this case it is thought the situation and environment have a stronger influence on the characteristics shown during sport than the trait characteristics would suggest. For example you have a trait personality to be quite shy, but then on the football field you are a controlled aggressive player. The level of aggression exerted would also be related to the situation e.g. have you already been warned by the referee?; how long is left in the game? Where on the pitch are you?
