Interactional approach

This approach takes the view that our personality is a combination of the two above theories. Suggesting that the way we act in sporting environments is both the result of our trait personalities and the environment. This is the nature vs nuture approach. With nature being the trait characteristics and nuture being the way these are changed to fit the environment. For example in football even a quick tempered player should recognise that after bad tackle on them from another player they need to maintain control in that situation.
