Fitness test data

Recording data

All data for each fitness test should be recorded so that the results can be compared and evaluated. This will show if the performer has improved, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and how they compare to their team mates and athletes of a similar/higher level. The data can be recorded in many ways, click on the link to see one way of recording the results.

Interpreting results

The results allow performers to compare their results with other team members and normative data ideally from elite athletes or teams. This allows the performer to compare their scores with elite athletes in their sport. Normative data can be found on the web, or contact elite athletes and teams to see if you can use any old results (usually four years old) as a comparison.

The following couple of examples show how normative data might be shown on websites or in journals or magazines.

The following are national team scores for the multistage fitness test.

Sport Male Female
Basketball 11.5 9.6
Hockey 13.9 12.7
Rugby league 13.1
Netball 9.7
Squash 13.13
