Group and one-to-one discussions

When learning how to cope and behave in different situations as an athlete, it can often be helpful to discuss issues with others in similar situations.

Discussions could firstly be in a group scenario, ideally with team mates or fellow athletes', in which problems, solutions and appropriate behaviours can be discussed as a group, providing a number of different outlooks and responses.

Discussions can also be carried out on a one-to-one basis, in which athletes' can privately discuss issues with one person such as a coach, manager, friend, fellow athlete, team mate, counsellor or mentor. Different situations could be discussed and appropriate responses and behaviours talked about. This may be more comfortable for some athletes' as they only have to discuss issues with one person and they will also know that anything discussed will be kept confidential.
